Spanish cyclist Eloy Teruel would have won the seventh stage of the Tour of California on Saturday if the race was one lap shorter. Teruel had a substantial lead over the other cyclists heading into the final lap, but he thought he was crossing the finish line at the time. He raised his arms in the air in triumph and was subsequently passed by dozens of opponents.
Announcers and fans tried to shout to Teruel to let him know there was still another lap, but he was too busy celebrating to notice. Peter Sagan of Slovakia went on to win the stage. Teruel poked fun at himself on Twitter after the epic embarrassment.
Me pudieron las ganas de victoria ,menos mal que nadie lo ha visto jajajajajaja

Basically, Teruel pulled a DeSean Jackson. It’s hard to watch someone lose a race like that.
