Adrian Peterson is facing another lawsuit stemming from a debt he allegedly failed to pay back, but the running back’s attorney has indicated the claims made against Peterson fail to tell the real story.
Peterson’s lawyer, Chase Carlson, released a statement on Tuesday saying he is unable to go into detail about the lawsuit but described it as “another situation of an athlete trusting the wrong people and being taken advantage of by those he trusted.”

According to New York court documents, Peterson is being sued by a Pennsylvania-based lender for defaulting on a $5.2 million loan. He allegedly used some of the money from that loan to pay off another debt stemming from a separate lawsuit in 2017.
The latest lawsuit claims Peterson took out an insurance policy to protect himself in case he got injured on the field, and he did not keep up with the payments. The policy should have kicked in when he suffered a knee injury in Week 2 of the 2016 season, but it was never paid out. Instead, the insurance company is saying Peterson owes money.
Peterson has made nearly $100 million on the field during his career, but he seems to have a lot of financial issues.
