Andy Dalton has X-rays come back negative after suffering thumb injury
A bad day for the Cincinnati Bengals got even worse on Sunday when Andy Dalton was forced to leave the team’s blowout loss to the Cleveland Browns with a hand injury, but the quarterback got some good news after the game.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that X-rays on Dalton’s injured thumb came back negative.
#Bengals QB Andy Dalton will undergo more tests on his thumb, but source says X-Rays were negative. No break. At the least, a good sign initially.

Dalton will likely undergo an MRI to determine if he has any ligament damage, but the negative X-rays are a good sign.
Cincinnati was getting blown out 35-7 at the time Dalton left, so there was no reason to bring him back in even if he felt like he could have returned. If you want to know how bad things are going for the Bengals over the past month or so, the social media reactions from Sunday’s embarrassment should give you an idea. They may not be able to salvage their season whether Dalton plays in Week 13 or not.
