Bears reportedly hire Mark Helfrich as offensive coordinator
Mark Helfrich had been mentioned as a possible candidate for the Arizona head coaching job, but the former Oregon coach has apparently decided to see what life is like working in the NFL.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Chicago Bears have hired Helfrich to be their next offensive coordinator.

Helfrich was the head coach at Oregon from 2013-2016 before being replaced by Willie Taggart. he served as the teams OC and quarterbacks coach for three seasons before that.
The Bears are trying to assemble a staff that they believe can develop first-round pick Mitchell Trubisky into a top NFL starting quarterback, which is why they hired former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy to be their head coach. They obviously feel Helfrich’s experience working with some high-powered offenses at the collegiate level makes him qualified for the job.
