Bo Nix has hilarious response to Sean Payton’s ‘Ferris Bueller’ comparison
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix had the perfect response to head coach Sean Payton comparing him to a famous movie character.
Nix and Payton had a heated exchange on the sideline at one point during the Broncos’ 34-18 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Cameras showed Payton saying something to Nix as the rookie came off the field following a stalled drive, and Nix became visibly upset. You can see the video here.
Payton was asked during his postgame press conference about the animated conversation. While he would not disclose what he and Nix talked about, he compared Nix to Ferris Bueller from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” Payton implied that Nix has a tendency to change plays and try to do his own thing when the coach doesn’t want him to.
“There’s still a little bit of Ferris Bueller in this player that we’ve gotta get rid of. … Ferris was kind of quirky, doing his own thing once in a while, I don’t know,” Payton said.

It does not sound like Nix was offended. The former Oregon star responded by sharing a Ferris Bueller-themed recap video of Sunday’s win on Instagram:

Nix played well against Las Vegas, which is probably part of the reason he had no issue with Payton’s comments. It is also well known that Payton wears his emotions on his sleeve, which we also saw last year when the coach appeared to rip into Russell Wilson on the sideline.
Nix finished 19/27 for 206 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions on Sunday. He also ran for a touchdown. If that was him channeling his inner Ferris Bueller, he might want to do it more often.
