Brock Osweiler might not even win Dolphins’ backup QB job?

Brock Osweiler

Brock Osweiler has been reunited with Adam Gase, but there are no guarantees that that will lead to success for him in Miami. In fact, one Dolphins reporter isn’t even confident that Osweiler will with the team’s backup quarterback job.

In a notes column published on Wednesday, the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson shared that Osweiler threw a pick-six at practice on Tuesday on a bubble screen. Given how quickly quarterbacks release passes on bubble screens, it’s rare for interceptions to happen on those plays.

Jackson concluded that “unless he’s great in preseason, it’s difficult to envision Osweiler winning the backup job.”

Ryan Tannehill is projected to the Dolphins’ starting quarterback. David Fales and Bryce Petty are competing with Osweiler for the backup job.

Osweiler infamously signed a $72 million contract with the Houston Texans, who eventually dumped him on Cleveland. He has passed for 30 touchdowns and 27 interceptions during his career and has not shown that he is any better than a mediocre quarterback. Based on things he has said in the past, Osweiler will probably feel otherwise.
