Broncos player has great explanation for Wade Phillips’ popularity
Denver Broncos defensive back Chris Harris gave a great explanation why Wade Phillips is such a popular person in the locker room.
Phillips is currently in his second season as the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams. Before that, he spent two seasons with the Broncos in the same position. Phillips was beloved by the players he coached. It wasn’t just because he was good at his job. As Harris shared on Wednesday, Phillips acts much younger than he actually is.
Chris Harris said Wade Phillips is so popular because “He’s an old guy, but he acts young. He tries to be hip with everything.”

Phillips, 71, is quite active on social media. Last month, he posted this gem of a tweet about Sean McVay’s unreal memory. Two years ago Phillips cracked a joke at himself after suffering a fractured rib as a result of a collision.
Moments like these are why Wade Phillips is such a likable person, both inside of the locker room and out of it. Phillips is likely is the subject of jokes when he’s pretending to be young, but it obviously endears him to his players.
