Browns announce starting QB decision coming out of bye week
The Cleveland Browns will not be rocking the boat as they emerge from their bye week.
Speaking with reporters on Monday, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski revealed that Jameis Winston will remain the team’s starting quarterback coming out of their Week 10 bye, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. As a result, Winston is set to draw at least one more start for Cleveland in Week 11 against New Orleans.
The former Heisman winner Winston, 30, took over under center for the Browns after starter Deshaun Watson was lost for the season due to a torn Achilles he suffered in Week 7. Winston was extremely impressive in Week 8 as he led the team to an upset win over Baltimore but was no good in Week 9, throwing three interceptions in a 27-10 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
With the Browns now an AFC North-worst 2-7 this season, some think that the team should start 24-year-old Dorian Thompson-Robinson the rest of the year for developmental purposes. But instead, Cleveland will be sticking with Winston as Stefanski also potentially coaches for his job (a topic that Browns management recently addressed).
