The Indianapolis Colts are going to work Andrew Luck into action slowly as preseason games get under way.
Colts coach Frank Reich said this week that the team intends to play Luck for roughly a quarter of the team’s preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks next Thursday.
“The plan is to play him a little bit more than he would normally would if he’d had a normal year last year,” Reich said, via Albert Breer of the MMQB. “But I don’t want to overreact. He’ll get enough snaps in, we’ll recreate enough out here in practice by the way we practice and the speed at which we practice, and all the situational stuff we practice. We’ll build a confidence level there. And sure, he needs to get his snaps, and maybe a little bit more. But I’m not gonna be dramatic with it.”
Luck playing at all will give us a glimpse of whether reports like this one have any truth to them. He’ll still be easing into game action, but it will be a good barometer of where he is at.
