Cowboys, OT La’el Collins agree to long-term extension
The Dallas Cowboys are still trying to hammer out a contract extension with Ezekiel Elliott so they can have the star running back on the field in Week 1, but they continue to take care of other players in the meantime.
The Cowboys and offensive tackle La’el Collins have agree to a long-term contract extension, as first reported by Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports.
Actually, it’s a done deal for the #Cowboys and T La’el Collins. Sources say the sides have agreed to a five-year extension. The former undrafted free agent (albeit because of non-football reasons) cashes in.

Collins has started 46 games for the Cowboys over his first four seasons. The 2015 undrafted free agent has been a mainstay on one of the best offensive lines in football. He was expected to be a first-round pick before a serious legal matter arose, when police questioned him about the murder of his ex-girlfriend.
As for Elliott, reports have been all over the place about what type of progress the Cowboys are making in contract talks with the star running back. Even with Dallas locking up other players long-term in advance of the regular season, Elliott remains the obvious priority.
