Deion Sanders has 4-word response to talk of him wanting Shedeur on Giants

There has been very little consensus regarding where Shedeur Sanders will be selected in the upcoming NFL Draft, but his father wants to make one thing very clear — the Sanders family has no preference.

A surprising quote that was attributed to Deion Sanders went viral on Monday. According to the person who posted it, Sanders was a guest speaker at the ProMat 2025 manufacturing and supply chain convention in Chicago last week when he was asked which NFL team he wants Shedeur to play for. Though no video footage has surfaced, the person claimed Sanders told fans in attendance, “We are hoping for New York.”

After seeing the attention the quote received, Sanders took to social media to respond.

“THIS IS A LIE! We’re thankful for whatever God chooses for them,” Sanders wrote in an Instagram comment.

Deion has denied saying this

I have no reason to believe that @JohnSokol14 would lie about what he heard

Sanders did not specify whether he was saying the quote was fabricated or that he does not have a preference of where Shedeur plays. Either way, the Colorado coach wanted to make it known that he is not pushing his son to the Giants or any other team.

Shedeur was at one point viewed as the favorite to be taken first overall in the draft. The Tennessee Titans have the No. 1 pick, and all indications recently have been that they prefer Cam Ward.

The Giants have the third overall pick. The Cleveland Browns, who also need a quarterback, are sitting at No. 2. Given how torn evaluators have been about where Shedeur might land, it is hard to imagine Deion would do or say anything that might limit his son’s options.

There have been rumors for months about the Sanders family wanting Shedeur to play for certain teams and not others. This is not the first time that Deion has shut the talk down.
