Deshaun Watson makes bold claim about his future

Deshaun Watson has seen his NFL career collapse due to issues both on and off the field since he was traded to the Cleveland Browns, but the quarterback remains confident that the best is yet to come.

In a workout video he shared on Instagram Wednesday, Watson spoke about the challenges he has faced as he rehabs from his second torn Achilles. The former first-round pick said he is embracing all the negativity and believes he will come back “way better than before.”

“Everyone’s doubting me. Everyone don’t believe in me. Everyone don’t think I can get back to where I was, but I know and I believe the work that I put in, what I believe in myself,” Watson said. “The peace that I’ve been channeling these last couple of months, I know I’m gonna be way better than before.

“I’m prepared. I think before I wasn’t prepared because I was kind of going with the flow of how the world was seeing me. When you kind of get knocked down to the ground and you’ve got to stand back up and walk through the rain, that brings out another fire, another challenge, another grit that you have.”

Watson is only 29, so he has plenty of time to revive his career. He may not play at all in 2025 after he re-ruptured his Achilles, but the Browns seem to have moved on anyway. If Cleveland finds a new quarterback while continuing to pay Watson the remainder of his $230 million guaranteed contract, he can simply focus on his rehab.

Prior to tearing his Achilles for the first time last season, Watson had played poorly with the Browns. He has also dealt with an ugly scandal away from the field.

All of that has led to most people writing Watson off, which should motivate him even further.
