Report: Dolphins will look to trade Jarvis Landry
The Miami Dolphins have decided to use the franchise tag on Jarvis Landry to prevent him from hitting free agency, but that does not mean they intend to keep the star wide receiver.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Landry’s agent is set to meet with Dolphins officials at the NFL Scouting Combine on Wednesday, and the belief is that the team will explore trade possibilities for the 25-year-old.
Dolphins and agent for Miami’s franchised player Jarvis Landry scheduled to meet Wednesday in Indianapolis to discuss the WR’s future, per sources. Multiple sources believe the Dolphins are interested in trading Landry.

The Dolphins have decent depth at wide receiver with DeVante Parker and Kenny Stills, so perhaps they are hoping to get a draft pick for Landry rather than just letting him walk. The franchise tag will pay him around $16 million for 2018, so some teams may want Landry to agree to a long-term extension before they would trade for him. That could make things complicated and weaken Miami’s stance.
We have already seen players from opposing teams try to recruit Landry, and you would have to think there will be a decent trade market for him. Landry had 112 catches for 987 yards and a career-high nine touchdowns last season, and he has averaged 100 catches per year since the Dolphins used a second-round pick on him back in 2014.
