The Philadelphia Eagles appeared to once again get away with a penalty while running the tush push on a crucial play during their game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
The Eagles had 4th-and-1 at the Rams 3-yard line early in the first quarter on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa. Head coach Nick Sirianni decided to go for it, which of course meant Jalen Hurts was going to run the tush push.
Hurts picked up a first down, but replays showed that right guard Tyler Steen committed a false start. Steen jumped out of his stance before the center began snapping the ball.
It appears there was a missed false start on an Eagles tush push.

Soon after, they scored a touchdown… On a tush push!

It was obvious when watching slow-motion replays that Steen jumped. When you watch the play in real time, however, you can see how the officials would miss the head start.
Clear and obvious false start by the RG goes uncalled.

NFL has a BIG PROBLEM if they can’t officiate the tush push play correctly. pic.twitter.com/MQ5W7TrPVM
The Eagles scored a touchdown two plays later on — you guessed it — another tush push.
There has been renewed controversy surrounding the tush push after the Eagles got away with at least one false start while running the play in their win over the Kansas City Chiefs last week. That led to the NFL sending a memo to officials instructing them to keep a closer eye on the play. Rams head coach Sean McVay also suggested he was going to speak with the league about it ahead of Sunday’s game, but that didn’t seem to matter early on.
It is one thing for the Eagles to overpower opponents with the tush push. The big problem for the NFL is that it seems officials can’t tell when a lineman jumps early on the play, even when they are supposed to be looking for it.
