Ex-Dolphins RB Mark Walton has charge of assaulting pregnant woman dropped
NFL running back Mark Walton was released by the Miami Dolphins midway through the 2019 season after he was arrested over an alleged incident involving a woman who is pregnant with his child, but he is no longer facing charges.
Walton’s attorney, Michael Gottlieb, said Wednesday that the charge against Walton of aggravated battery of a pregnant woman has been dropped. Prosecutors have chosen not to pursue the case, though the NFL is still reviewing the matter.

Walton was accused of punching a woman who was five weeks pregnant with his child at the time “several times in the face and head.” He was serving a four-game suspension from the NFL at the time for separate incidents involving the police.
Walton briefly took over as the Dolphins’ featured back after they traded Kenyan Drake last season, and he rushed for 201 yards on 53 carries. It remains to be seen if another team will give the 23-year-old a shot in the wake of the charge being dropped.
