Hue Jackson updates Brock Osweiler’s Browns status
Brock Osweiler is still a member of the Cleveland Browns, and as long as that’s the case, the team is going to treat him like someone competing for the quarterback job.
That’s according to coach Hue Jackson, who told NFL Network’s Steve Wyche that Osweiler will be treated as a full member of the Cleveland Browns until he isn’t.
“He is. Obviously, he’s a player on our team and we’re going to treat him just like we do all of our other quarterbacks until he’s not,” Jackson said, via Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com. “He’s a guy that’s gonna come in and compete. We haven’t had an opportunity to meet with him from a football standpoint because of the rules. But once we start our offseason program, phase one, we’ll get a chance to know him and he’ll get to know us.”
Osweiler is in the same boat as Tony Romo. The Browns want to trade him, and failing that, will probably release him. For now, he’s still with Cleveland, and Jackson really has no choice but to treat him as a full member of the squad.
