Jerry Jones has fiery response to growing AT&T Stadium criticism
Jerry Jones has not been pleased with the growing chatter about one of AT&T Stadium’s most controversial design choices.
The Cowboys got crushed by the Philadelphia Eagles 34-6 on Sunday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. One talking point from the contest was how the Cowboys were hurt by the sunlight shining into the building.
Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb botched a potential three-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter that could have given Dallas a 10-7 lead (video here). Lamb gestured that the sun got into his eyes. The Cowboys ended up kicking a field goal to trim the lead to 7-6 and never scored again.
AT&T Stadium was designed uniquely based on the preference of Jones. The field’s alignment goes East-West as opposed to North-South, which is the way most stadiums are positioned to avoid the sunlight issue.
When asked if the team would consider installing curtains, Jones gave an animated response.
“Well let’s tear the damn stadium down and build another one? Are you kidding me?” the Cowboys owner said. “Everybody has got the same thing. Every team that comes in here has the same issues. I’m saying, the world knows where the sun is. You get to know that almost a year in advance. Someone asked me about the sun. What about the sun? Where’s the moon?”
A frustrated Jerry Jones had some comments about the sun impacting play at AT&T Stadium: “By the way, we know where the sun is going to be when we decide to flip the coin or not. We do know where the damn sun is going to be in our own stadium.”

It’s hardly the first time AT&T Stadium’s design has been called into question. Jones had to address similar complaints earlier this season during a Cowboys loss to the Detroit Lions.
Based on Jones’ reaction on Sunday, the team probably is not planning to fix the issue anytime soon.
