Johnny Manziel, ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley reportedly reached settlement
Johnny Manziel was indicted on Sunday by a grand jury in Dallas on a misdemeanor assault charge, but the woman who accused him of assaulting her will apparently not be filing a lawsuit or pressing charges.
CBS Dallas-Fort Worth reports that Manziel and his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley reached an out-of court settlement, though the exact terms are unknown. A judge also granted a protective order after the Jan. 30 incident requiring Manziel to stay at least 500 feet away from Crowley — including her apartment — at all times until at least Feb. 3, 2018.
Manziel has been indicted for misdemeanor assault with bodily injury. He and Crowley got into it during a car ride in January, and Crowley claimed Manziel hit her so hard he ruptured he ear drum.
The NFL could punish Manziel under its domestic violence policy, even if he winds up not being charged. Even the fact that he settled could influence the league to take disciplinary action. One thing that could work in Manziel’s favor is that there is reportedly a video that shows Crowley attacked him.
