Landon Collins: Tony Romo ‘won’t be happy if he comes my way’
Landon Collins will playing in his first NFL game on Sunday. Despite his of experience at the professional level, the rookie safety certainly isn’t lacking in the confidence department.
Collins fully understands Tony Romo and Scott Linehan will be looking to exploit weaknesses within the Giants defense. He’s also aware he will likely be seen as a potential weak spot. Ahead of the matchup, Collins wants everyone to know picking on him may not be the best idea.
“Tony Romo said he’s looking for key matchups,” Collins said via the Giants website. “If he’s going to look for key matchups, he’s going to pick on me. … I’m a rookie, but I mean, he comes towards my way, and he won’t be happy.”
After playing his college ball at Alabama, Collins is certainly no stranger to playing in big games. That said, the Giants-Cowboys NFC East rivalry is one heck of an introduction to the NFL.
While at Alabama, the Crimson Tide won a BCS championship and two conference championship games. And, playing in the SEC is about as close to NFL-level competition as you can get at the collegiate level. All that said, Tony Romo (and the rest of the quarterbacks Collins will face this season) represent a significant step up in talent level. It’s a good thing Collins isn’t short on confidence, because there’s a good chance more than a few teams this year will go after him to see how he holds up.
