Le’Veon Bell says Steelers tried to trade for him this season
Le’Veon Bell sat out all of last season rather than play for the Pittsburgh Steelers without the kind of guaranteed money he felt he deserved. Apparently his year away from the team did not turn off the organization from the talented running back.
Bell said on the Uninterrupted “17 weeks” podcast that he was told by his agent the trade rumors surrounding him were true. He says the Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers were among the teams interested in trading for him. And you know who else was too? His old team, the Steelers.

What’s changed since?
Well, the Steelers were always willing to pay Bell some money on a long-term deal, just not enough in guarantees. The Jets have already paid a portion of that amount for this season, making the total amount of guaranteed money left on the deal something Pittsburgh feels is reasonable.
Plus, the Steelers no longer have Antonio Brown, and three of their running backs are hurt. The Steelers are desperate for offensive help, so they turned back to Bell. Obviously no deal was made, because Bell remains with the Jets.
