Lions say Jarrad Davis injury is not season-ending
The Detroit Lions feared the worst after Jarrad Davis suffered a serious-looking injury in Friday’s preseason game, but the news was good on Saturday.
In a conference call with reporters, coach Matt Patricia stated that Davis’ injury is not season-ending, and the linebacker will not need a stint on injured reserve.
#Lions coach Matt Patricia spoke to local reporters on a conference call and said the ankle injury to LB Jarrad Davis is not season-ending and he doesn’t anticipate putting him on Injured Reserve. Unexpectedly good news.

Davis had to be carted off the field and the injury looked very serious, so the fact that he’s expected to play this season is great news for Detroit. There’s no indication of how much time he will miss, though.
The 23-year-old has started 30 games over the past two seasons after being the first-round pick of the Lions in 2017. He has 196 total tackles and eight sacks since entering the league, and is expected to play a key role in Detroit’s defense.
