Bill Belichick may still have some hard feelings toward the New England Patriots, but he is at least willing to informally help the team prepare for Super Bowl LX.
Patriots coach Mike Vrabel has reached out to Belichick for guidance as he gets the team ready for the Super Bowl, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Vrabel has also spoken to Chiefs coach Andy Reid on the same topic.
This is Vrabel’s first Super Bowl as a head coach, so it is hardly a surprise that he would want to speak to some of his mentors. He and Belichick go way back, as he played for Belichick from 2001 to 2008.
Still, there seemed to be a bit of tension between them at the start of the season, with Vrabel seemingly throwing shade at Belichick’s start with North Carolina. Belichick, meanwhile, was holding a petty grudge against the Patriots organization that Vrabel did not seem impressed with.
Belichick may or may not want to see his former franchise do well in the Super Bowl, but he isn’t cold enough to essentially hang up on Vrabel in this situation. Belichick, of course, won six championships in New England, so Vrabel has a long way to go to match him.
