The Dallas Cowboys are bringing in a new coaching staff, and a former Super Bowl champion who is part of the current one is reportedly thinking about calling it a career.
Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer is contemplating retirement, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington.
Zimmer was hired as the defensive coordinator with the Cowboys last offseason. The 68-year-old is in his second stint with the team, as he was also the DC in Dallas in the early-2000s. Zimmer was a defensive assistant for the Cowboys from 1994-2006 and won a Super Bowl with the team in 1995.

After his initial stint with Dallas, Zimmer served as the defensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons and Cincinnati Bengals. He was the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings from 2014-2021 and went 72-56-1, leading the team to the playoffs three times.
Zimmer is still well respected across the NFL, so he could probably land a job with another team if he wanted to continue coaching. For now, it sounds like retirement is on his mind.
