When you tune in for a Kansas City Chiefs game this season, you get a little less football and a lot more Taylor Swift. The whole thing has become a bit of a circus and Patrick Mahomes’ father, Pat Mahomes Sr., hopes to avoid that on Sunday during the AFC Championship Game.
During a Thursday appearance on WFAN’s Evan & Tiki, Mahomes Sr. revealed that he prefers to avoid that sideshow and will “hopefully” be sitting away from Swift.
“I hope not,” Mahomes Sr. said when asked if he’ll be seated next to Swift. “No, I don’t think so. Travis normally has his own thing and Patrick has his own deal too. . . I imagine if Taylor wants her own suite, she’s got enough money to get whichever one she want.”

Swift has become a regular at Chiefs games this season and is often seated next to the family of her boyfriend Travis Kelce. She’s often seated near Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes. During the Divisional Round last week, the group was joined by Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, who stole the show with his shirtless, beer-pounding antics.
While Mahomes Sr. intends to avoid the media circus, he did praise Swift for her very sweet personality.
“(She’s) actually very down to earth,” he said. “Somebody that famous, you never know how that’s gonna go.”
Through no fault of her own, Swift has become the star of every Chiefs game. The cameras are constantly focused on her suite and the announcers can’t stop tripping over themselves to talk about her.
Tiki Barber, the retired New York Giants running back, finds the whole thing quite annoying.
“(Isiah Pacheco) scores a touchdown, and they pan immediately to Taylor Swift! Again? It’s not even Travis Kelce,” Barber said on Monday during WFAN’s afternoon drive show. “Maybe it’s the Taylor Swift influence that has made me — I don’t want to say turn sour — but just be slightly annoyed with the Kansas City Chiefs.
“Why are you guys continuing to show Taylor Swift? The obsession is getting annoying. Why do we need to see her?”
That’s bound to continue on Sunday if Swift is in attendance but one thing is for certain: Mahomes Sr. won’t be anywhere near it.
