Pete Carroll was critical of the San Francisco 49ers’ playing field a day after losing to their NFC North rivals.
Carroll called the playing field at Levi’s Stadium “lousy” and said the fields in California are often “treacherous.” He’s wondering how the NFL allows that.

There was rain during the game, which contributed to the difficult playing conditions. The most notable example of the field’s impact came on the 49ers’ second touchdown of the game. Seattle safety Tedric Thompson slipped in the open field, allowing Garrett Celek to score a 41-yard touchdown for what should have been a 20-yard gain.

Carroll said he had his team prepare for the slick field conditions but it still was a factor as players struggled to dig into the turf. That play was a big one, as it gave the Niners a 14-6 lead when they might have been held to a field goal otherwise.
