Trent Williams did not report to training camp last week and has informed the Washington Redskins he wants a new contract or to part ways, and the team is apparently working to accommodate that request.
Jeff Howe of The Athletic reported on Wednesday that Washington has been engaged in trade discussions surrounding Williams. Howe said there is speculation around the league that the New England Patriots have interest.
The Redskins are having trade discussions regarding tackle Trent Williams, according to a source. Unclear what type of compensation they'd require in a trade. There's a feeling around the league the Patriots would be involved due to depth issues at the position.

The Patriots chose not to use the franchise tag on Trent Brown this offseason, and he signed a massive contract with the Oakland Raiders. Brown was New England’s left tackle last season, but the Patriots did not prioritize keeping him since they will be getting 2018 first-round pick Isaiah Wynn back after he missed his rookie season with a torn Achilles.
Even if Wynn is expected to start at left tackle, the Patriots have been known to move guys all around their offensive line and have less depth at the position than in past years. They make sense for Williams if the price is right.
Williams, who has made the Pro Bowl every season since 2012, wants a new contract but is also at odds with the Redskins over the way they handled his health scare this offseason.
