Stephen Curry’s new signature Under Armour shoe has been taking a beating on social media this summer, and now the roast has spilled over into the world of pro football.
Houston Texans punter Shane Lechler turned 40 on Sunday, and his teammates celebrated by giving Lechler a series of gag gifts meant to poke fun at his age. Included in the package, per Peter King of Monday Morning Quarterback, was “a walker, some Rogaine, and those Steph Curry sneakers people think look old-fashioned.”
Those infamous Curry 2 Lows, of course, launched a thousand memes upon their release last June for their lame, “dad shoe”-like appearance. For the seven-time Pro Bowler Lechler, who is entering his 17th season in the NFL and leads all active players with 222 consecutive games played, he’s probably just glad that his teammates saved him the trouble of making a trip down to the local Walgreens for some new kicks.
