Todd Bowles says referees were targeting Jets with penalties
Todd Bowles criticized the referees after his New York Jets blew a big lead to the Green Bay Packers in a 44-38 overtime loss on Sunday.
Bowles was asked at his press conference following the loss what he thought about the penalties. The Jets were penalized 16 times for 172 yards, compared to 10 for 86 for the Packers.

“I can explain some of (the penalties). I can’t explain all of them. That’s a question you’ve got to ask them,” Bowles said of the officials.
“It was one of them games … I haven’t seen one like that in my 18, 19 years in the league. I thought we were playing two teams. I thought we were playing the Packers and the striped shirts.”
A report last month said Bowles would be fired after the season. His departing gift may be a fine from the league for these comments.
