The Cincinnati Bengals are finally moving on from one of the most controversial players in NFL history.
According to multiple reports, the Bengals have decided to release veteran linebacker Vontaze Burfict.

Burfict, 28, spent the first seven years of his career in Cincinnati. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Bengals tried to trade him before releasing him, but it’s no surprise there was not a big market for the former Arizona State star.
Burfict has been fined and suspended for dirty plays and illegal hits numerous times throughout his career, and he was accused of being up to his old tricks last season. He then dealt with a concussion later in the year, so the character concerns and injury were likely enough to scare most teams away. It will be interesting to see what the market is for Burfict now that he is a free agent.
