Jon Jones has addressed the latest criminal charge pinned against him.
The legendary UFC fighter made headlines on Saturday when news broke of his retirement from MMA. Shortly after the retirement news went public, the Albuquerque Journal reported on a misdemeanor charge against Jones.
Jones did not take long to issue a statement about the criminal allegations against him.
“Keep in mind, even the media can get it wrong sometimes if they don’t have all the facts. Don’t believe everything you read online,” Jones’ post read.

Jones was accused of fleeing the scene of a February car crash that occurred in San Mateo and Lomas in Albuquerque, N.M. Per the report, local authorities found an intoxicated woman in the passenger seat of the crashed car. She claimed Jones was the driver and had fled the scene on foot.
The woman was then said to have made a call to Jones. Once a police service aide got to speak to the man believed to be Jones, the latter reportedly sounded “heavily intoxicated” and even allegedly issued threats against the aide.
Jones’ court date is slated for July 24 at the Metropolitan Court in Albuquerque, N.M.
Jones is no stranger to legal drama outside of the UFC octagon. In 2021, Jones was arrested over a domestic violence charge. Last year, a woman working with UFC’s anti-doping program filed a police report against Jones during a random specimen sample collection.
