My team was lucky to be on the other side of such a circumstance.
After trading half our team for Juan Gonzalez, halfway through the
season we offered him a 10yr 140mill contract which he turned down.
We'd only be 5 years into it right now and he's done. Thank god!

If you remember, and Maller brings this up occasionally, Juan was
trying to get a job with Cleveland 3 years ago. He played all out in
spring training and they gave him a 1 year deal and the starting job
ahead of rookie Grady Sizemore. The next day in one at-bat he injured
himself and was out for months. Halfway through the season he came
back, had one at-bat, hurt himself again and was out for the year. After
Detroit I think he only made about 35million total vs. 140million. That's
why you take the money when it's offered. Oh well, dumbass.

The sadder part about GA being near retirement is that we can already see his signs of old age.

It wasn't that long ago he was amazing. We really are getting old.
