Ryan Vogelsong Would Not Wear the Ribbon?

Hey Bochy, Lincecum, this man will not wear the ribbon. Who? Who will not wear the ribbon? I’m wearing the ribbon, he’s wearing the ribbon, we are all wearing the ribbon. So why aren’t you going to wear the ribbon? I guess we’re just going to have to teach Ryan Vogelsong to wear the ribbon!

The Giants had an “Until There’s a Cure Night” on Monday and all players wore red ribbons on their jerseys to support AIDS research. Vogelsong was the only player who didn’t have a ribbon on his jersey, so many people were worried he had done it out of protest. Turns out that was not the case.

Hank Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle explains what happened:

“Vogelsong has two home-white jerseys. One is made of a mesh material that breathes better in the heat, so he wears that during the day. He wears a heavier uni at night. The clubhouse staff had the ribbon sewn onto the day uniform, which sat in Vogelsong’s locker the entire game.”

Alright, alright, so Vogelsong gets a pass. But by law, we are obligated to play this classic clip from Seinfeld. Enjoy:
