FCS star QB Vernon Adams to take visit to Oregon

Vernon Adams

Oregon is in the market for a new quarterback with Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota heading to the NFL, and they could be looking at a transfer to keep them at a championship level.

Vernon Adams, who has been a star quarterback for Eastern Washington the past three seasons, is flying to Oregon to take a visit with the Ducks this week.

“They told me a lot of things I wanted to hear,” Adams told The Spokesman-Review. “I’m not saying I’m leaving Eastern, but I’m just going to check it out and see what they have to say.”

Adams will be a redshirt senior and has led Eastern Washington to three straight Big Sky championships and three straight FCS playoff appearances. He has passed for 10,438 yards and 110 touchdowns and rushed for 1,232 yards and 11 touchdowns during his college career.

Adams really put his name on the map when he led Eastern Washington to an upset win over Oregon State in 2013. In October, NFL Media’s Charles Davis listed him as one of the top small-school QBs to watch.

Between this and the rumors of the Ducks’ interest in Braxton Miller, it’s pretty obvious that Oregon would like an experienced star to lead them next season.
