But being fortunate enough schedule wise, etc is not enough to deserve a spot. and no one deserves a spot this year,,,,, parity or whatever. A playoff is the only answer to a season like this. The only way that will ever happen would be a player protest. no one comes out of the locker room for any bowl game,,, they will have a system in place in a week no problem with this being the Title game had they went thru a playoff. That, as much as any other reason, is why we need a playoff system, so teams don't gain much from playing only cupcakes. I don't agree with you however that only the big-name schools should be a championship game. In basketball, we celebrate the underdogs going deep into the tournament. Why not football?
