Indianapolis Colts Are a Sports Bettor’s Dream: Best Team Against the Spread

The millions of fans who bitched about the Colts sitting their starters not only might have been wrong about their complaint, but they may have also missed the best ride of all. Through Sunday’s AFC Championship Game, the Colts have posted the best record in the NFL against the spread this season. With two covers under their belt in the playoffs, they’re 12-5-1 for the year, which places them just ahead of the Packers who were 11-5-1 counting a playoff loss to the Cardinals. The other teams that competed for the title of Best Team Against the Spread were the Falcons (11-5 ATS) and surprisingly, the lowly Browns who went 10-6 ATS.

As I frequently explained when making my “Doc Brown’s Sports Almanac Picks” on Sporting News Radio, I was going to keep picking the Colts until they proved me otherwise. Indy reeled off five straight wins ATS down the stretch before tanking against the Jets and the Bills, but they’ve made up for it with covers against the Ravens and the Jets. Putting all this together meant it was no surprise to see that the Colts have already been installed as four point favorites in the Super Bowl by the odds makers.

While many people will get caught up in legacies and places in history, I want to make sure you don’t miss out on one of the best stories of the season: the Colts are and have been the best team to bet on all year. Hopefully you won’t miss out on this gravy train before the season’s over. With the Super Bowl being the most bet-on sports event of the year, I have a feeling you won’t.
