Report: Jason Pierre-Paul also has portion of thumb missing
Jason Pierre Paul lost more than just his right index finger in a fireworks accident over the 4th of July weekend.
Dan Graziano of ESPN reports that Pierre-Paul is missing a portion of the thumb on his right hand in addition to his entire index finger, which was surgically removed. That would help explain why the New York Giants were not encouraged when they finally met with Pierre-Paul last week to get an idea of how close he is to returning.
The Giants have no idea when their star pass rusher will be ready to play. The two sides parted ways earlier this month without Pierre-Paul signing his franchise tender because he was not ready to play. JPP does not want to sign the tender until he is cleared to play to avoid the Giants placing him on the non-football injury list and not paying him through Week 6.
When photos first surfaced showing Pierre-Paul’s hand after surgery, we immediately knew the injury was more serious than his camp had initially indicated. However, the 26-year-old cracked this joke on Twitter about the fireworks mishap and made it seem like he was getting close to making a return. Now, you have to wonder if Pierre-Paul will even play in 2015.
