Tyrod Taylor’s agent wants QB to get paid before season

Tyrod-Taylor

If Tyrod Taylor can duplicate next season the success he had in 2015, he will easily be one of the best bargains in the NFL. Rather than giving him an extension, the Buffalo Bills are choosing to let Taylor play out the remainder of his deal.

And his agent is not pleased about it.

Earlier this week, Adisa Bakari told Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News that he believes his client deserves to be paid before the upcoming season.

“It’s the Bills’ prerogative to do what they want to do as it relates to Tyrod Taylor or any other Bills player,” Bakari said. “Fortunately, there are 31 other teams that have watched and will be watching Tyrod. And the fact of the matter is what Tyrod was able to do as a first-time starter in 2015 was give the Bills the best quarterback play they’ve had since Jim Kelly. If that isn’t enough to warrant an extension, I don’t know what will be.”

Taylor played well enough in 2015 that the Bills feel confident sticking with him, but he needs to do it for at least another season before proving he is a franchise quarterback. If he can do that, he’ll earn the payday he is seeking — be it from the Bills or another team.

At the NFL owners meetings on Tuesday, Bills coach Rex Ryan said the team has to do what’s best.

“The agent’s probably the most disappointed of them all, but there’s a football team to run, not just one player,” Ryan said, via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “For the agent, he’s got a player, so I get it, but you have to do what’s in the best interests of your team, and not just one player.”

If the gifts Taylor bought for his offensive linemen are any indication, he has made enough money to survive. As long as he can remain healthy and continue to produce, there will be plenty more cash coming Taylor’s way.
