Drew Storen breaks thumb slamming locker shut
Nothing represents the Washington Nationals’ disappointing season better than what happened with Drew Storen this week.
The Washington Post’s Chelsea Janes reported Saturday that the Nats reliever broke his thumb slamming his locker after allowing a home run in Wednesday’s 5-3 loss to the Mets:
Drew Storen slammed his locker shut after allowing the HR Wednesday. Broke his right thumb. Likely out for the season, Williams said.

Storen’s poor performance on Wednesday helped give the Mets a sweep over the collapsing Nats. Storen had already contributed to a blown 7-1 lead on Tuesday when he walked three batters and allowed the Mets to score a run. The Mets won that game 8-7. On Wednesday, he entered a 2-2 game in relief of Stephen Strasburg with a runner on and allowed a 2-run home run to Yoenis Cespedes to make it 4-2 Mets. It’s no wonder he was ticked off. He hasn’t pitched since then, and now you know why.
