Groundskeeper swallowed by tarp gets outline treatment on infield
On Tuesday, a member of the grounds crew was swallowed by the tarp during a rain delay during a game between the Padres and Pirates. The following day, he was memorialized on the infield dirt at PNC Park.
As seen in the above photo, an outline could be found near third base in the shape of a person, representing the groundskeeper. Above it is the date of the incident (07/07/15) and below is an inscription of the words “Tarp Man.”
Thankfully, the gentleman appeared to be okay afterward, so a chuckle can be enjoyed.
We’ve seen players get outlines before, like Ryan Braun and Aubrey Huff. A couple of months ago, an umpire had one made in his likeness after taking a foul ball off the knee. However, this is the first time I’ve seen a member of the grounds crew get similar treatment.
