Seattle Mariners fans are holding a grudge against Shohei Ohtani.
Ohtani made his first career appearance against the Mariners when the Los Angeles Angels visited Seattle on Friday for the first of a three-game series. The two-way player was in the lineup batting fifth and DHing for the Angels.
When Ohtani came to the plate, Mariners fans booed him.
Ohtani struck out in his first at-bat but singled and then smacked an RBI double in his next two.
So why the boos? The Mariners were among the finalists for Ohtani and even worked to clear more money for him. Of course, he chose their AL West rival instead, and now Mariners fans are showing their displeasure.
The boos will probably dissipate over time, but you can understand the reaction for his first ever visit to Safeco Field.
