Rookie outfielder Yasiel Puig continues to provide Los Angeles Dodgers fans with his flare for the dramatic. On Sunday, Puig blasted a walk-off home run in the 11th inning of a 0-0 tie game against the Cincinnati Reds. And he even put his own personal spin on it.
We have seen plenty of guys punt their helmets as they approach home plate after a walk-off homer, but Puig did something more unique. The 22-year-old slid into home plate as a group of his teammates awaited his arrival to rip his jersey off, beat the hell out of him, and do whatever else players do to guys who play the role of hero.
Puig has to cool off eventually, right? He had that phenomenal defensive play in his MLB debut and then a two-home run performance in his second career game with the Dodgers. Now, Puig has added a walk-off homer to his resume and is still hitting .372 on the year. Talk about an immediate impact.
