Anthony Davis suffered a back injury during a frightening fall in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 117-87 win over the New York Knicks on Tuesday night, but fortunately all the news has been positive since he exited the game.
Initial reports indicated that Davis was expected to miss at least two games, but his X-rays came back negative. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, he got more good news after undergoing an MRI, which revealed only a bruise and no structural damage.

Davis will travel with the Lakers on their upcoming two-game road trip against the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder, though he is unlikely to play in either contest.
All things considered, the news could not be more positive for Davis. There were initially fears of a fracture or worse with how hard he slammed on the floor after a block attempt, so a short-term absence is really the best-case scenario.
Davis is averaging 27.1 points 9.4 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game this season. He has been as good as advertised and is one of the main reasons the Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference.
