Derrick Rose upset with referees for lack of calls
The Bulls beat the Knicks Monday night but that doesn’t mean Derrick Rose was happy after the game. Contrarily, Rose was upset with the officials for what he felt was a lack of calls in his favor.
“I’ve got to be the only superstar in the league going through what I’m going through right now,” Rose said.
Rose had a game-high 32 points on 12-29 shooting. He took nine free throws, more than any player in the game. That wasn’t enough for him.
“I was mad because they weren’t calling any calls the whole game,” Rose said of the angry face he had after a monster dunk in the fourth quarter.
Carlos Boozer believes Rose’s strength and ability finish contributes to his lack of calls.
“Yeah, because he’s so strong … he finishes so many plays where he does get contact,” Boozer said. “Sometimes they let it go, but you can’t let it go all the time. You’ve got to make the call. You saw in the third quarter, you’re just trying to force the issue. He got to the line a bunch in the third quarter. But he could have got to the line maybe 10 times in the first half.”
Rose is 13th in the league with 6.2 free throw attempts per game, sandwiched between Andrea Bargnani and Rodney Stuckey. Does that sound right to you? Maybe he does have a point.
