Smith was trying to chase Thompson to guard him but slipped on the floor and crashed into the back of Thompson’s leg. Thompson went down to the floor after the contact and then was taken into the locker room for examination.
Thompson was 1-for-3 shooting for two points in six minutes prior to exiting the game. Nick Young entered the game in his place after the collision.
Thompson returned to the Warriors’ bench with a minute left in the first quarter.
