Report: Lakers would consider Russell Westbrook for John Wall trade

Russell Westbrook warming up

Los Angeles Lakers players reportedly are pushing the team to make a deal ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline. There is one player who could end up being dealt, but it would take the blessing of the team’s biggest star.

According to Bleacher Report, the Lakers would consider dealing Russell Westbrook for John Wall. However, that would require LeBron James pushing for the trade, B/R says.

The Westbrook and Wall contracts are nearly identical and regarded as two worst, bloated deals. Houston reportedly is willing to make such a trade. But that could require the Lakers to sweeten the deal.

Both players are making around $44 million this season and have options for around $47 million for next season.

The Lakers have benched Westbrook at the end of games recently, indicating they have lost faith in him. But would that result in them trading him? That’s another question entirely.
