LeBron James tells Kawhi Leonard ‘we’ll be in touch’

LeBron James

Kawhi Leonard can opt out of his contract and become a free agent this offseason, and there has long been talk about him potentially teaming up with LeBron James when that happens. So when LeBron says anything that indicates he will be chatting with Leonard at a later date, people are going to overreact.

After the Toronto Raptors defeated the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, cameras caught LeBron briefly telling Leonard “we’ll be in touch” as the two left the court.

That has to mean they’re going to talk about playing together, right?

Of course not. It could literally mean anything. LeBron may have just been tossing a cliche at Leonard, or perhaps they are planning to work out together at UCLA like they did last summer. A lot of NBA stars are friends off the court and train together, so not everything is a hint that they are looking to join forces.

Plus, there is reason to believe Leonard does not even want to team up with James, and the way the Lakers have played in LeBron’s first season with them probably hasn’t helped. It would be far less of a surprise at this point if Leonard left Toronto to sign with LA’s other team.
