Quinn Cook signing two-year deal with Lakers

If there is any silver lining for the Los Angeles Lakers after they missed out on Kawhi Leonard, it is that they now have enough salary cap space to build out their roster with solid complimentary pieces.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported on Saturday that free agent guard Quinn Cook has agreed to sign a two-year, $6 million deal with the Lakers.

Quinn spent the last two years with the Golden State Warriors and provided them with good depth off the bench, as he averaged 8.2 points while playing 18.4 minutes per game over the two seasons. There have been rumblings that the Lakers could bring Rajon Rondo back, but the Quinn signing may take care of that need.

Shortly after news broke that Leonard will sign with the Los Angeles Clippers, the Lakers secured commitments from Danny Green and JaVale McGee. They are also expected to bring back Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and still have a shot at a bigger name who could be traded soon or bought out.

Obviously, Leonard was the Lakers’ top priority and would have given them a better chance at building a dynasty. But now that he is going to the other LA team, that gives the Lakers a chance at building a more well-rounded roster. It will be up to GM Rob Pelinka to make the most of that.
