The Utah Jazz will be without star center Rudy Gobert for at least one game.
A source told Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune that Gobert, who hyperextended his knee just 11 seconds into Game 1, will sit out Game 2.
The Jazz will assess Gobert’s status on a game-by-game basis, according to the report. There is no structural damage to the knee and Gobert does not need crutches to walk around, but the injury will still require time to heal.
Derrick Favors, who scored 15 points and six rebounds in Utah’s Game 1 win, will likely get the start in Gobert’s place.
Utah is playing with house money at this point after stealing Game 1 in Los Angeles. If they can get their star center back for Game 3, they’ll still be in pretty good shape.
