Victor Wembanyama shares which American city is like a ‘dystopia’

Las Vegas, aptly nicknamed Sin City, is a popular vacation destination for Americans. It’s also one of the country’s largest tourist attractions with more 42 million visits per year. But for San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama, it’s more like something out of a dystopian Hollywood film.

Reflecting on the first time he visited Vegas during the NBA Summer League, which came last October when he squared off against Scoot Henderson, the French superstar offered a harsh review.

“I mean, to me, it’s probably the closest thing on Earth to a dystopia,” Wembanyama said, via CBS Sports. “I’m not the biggest fan of Vegas.”

Wait until he sees the current state of San Francisco.

But it’s easy to understand why Wembanyama has such a disdain for Las Vegas. It’s a difficult place to spend more than a few hours and that’s when you don’t have a massive media circus in tow.

Of course, there was also that whole Britney Spears incident that didn’t exactly leave Wembanyama with the best taste in his mouth. His entire stay out in the desert was less than ideal, so it’s easy to understand why he has such a low opinion of the city.

Luckily for Wembanyama, he’ll have no reason to head back to Vegas unless the NBA opts to give the city an expansion franchise — something Shaquille O’Neal has previously expressed interest in.
