Oscar De La Hoya wants Canelo Alvarez to fight GGG
Oscar De La Hoya never shied from big fights when he was boxing, and the same can be said of him as a matchmaker.
The fighter-turned-promoter said after Gennady Golovkin’s victory Saturday night in New York that he would “absolutely” make a fight between his guy Canelo Alvarez and GGG.
Oscar De La Hoya tells me he would "absolutely" make Canelo-Golovkin if Canelo beats Cotto next month.

As noted, the one key thing is Canelo has to beat Miguel Cotto first. Canelo has won three in a row since losing to Floyd Mayweather two years ago. His fight with Cotto is on Nov. 21 in Las Vegas.
Though Oscar has already talked about his prized fighter facing GGG, they should not be overlooking Cotto, who is always dangerous. Like Alvarez, Cotto has won three fights in a row. His defeats were very respectable, coming to the likes of Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, Antonio Margarito and Austin Trout.
Alvarez has his work cut out for him next month, but fans sure would love to see a match between him and GGG down the road, perhaps in May.
